Autumn

Vibrant blue,
the sky holds such promise;
fluffly white clouds float aimlessly
making unknown shapes above our heads.
The sun may appear
but it`s strength has been sapped
by the summertime.
The wind from the North
with it`s icy fingers of bitterness
turns green to orange, red, yellow and then brown,
stripping leaves of their loveliness;
to be crunched underfoot.
Wildlife scurries and flurries
looking for warmth;
foraging and hoarding
for the imminent winter.
Bushes robbed of their berries
by chilling winds,
birds must fly south
for warmer climes,
for it is Autumn.

Of Course they Didn`t

First Day at Secondary School

I wanted them to see him as the brightest star
to see him through my eyes
but of course they didn`t.

I wanted them to rush over to him
begging to be his friend
be enchanted by his being
but of course they didn`t.

I wanted them to be enthralled
to want to get to know him
to see his real worth
but of course they didn`t.

I wanted them to see his humour
his intelligence
his good heart
but of course they didn`t.

I wanted them to invite him to join them
make him laugh
and make him welcome
but of course they didn`t.

Instead they clumped together in groups made years ago
not seeing
nor hearing him
for he was not yet one of them.
